In their 2005 Series 2 set, Topps has included a set of Barry Bonds "home run history" cards, each commemorating one of his first 330 home runs. I have gotten a handful, but yesterday I got one featuring a dinger against the Metsies... career homer [url=http://www.ultimatemets.com/gamedetail.php?gameno=4036]#18[/url], against (reliever) David Cone in the bottom of the ninth inning to bring the Pirates within a run - before Jesse O came in and shut the door. The back of the card just lists opponent, opposing pitcher, date, inning, and men on base; I saw "9th inning, one on, one out" and figured it might have been something more dramatic. But alas, no. So there's your random Mets memory of the day, courtesy of Topps. (Sorry this is so big; can you resize images on here the same way we used to do it on EZ?)

I actually considered just punting Jack Hamilton and waiting until I reached the next posting level, because it's Saturday and I'm not quite awake yet, but I can't start getting lazy now, especially when Jack has one of those cool old severed-head cards:

I have a baseball card question, thank you for reminding me. What do you all think of hacking up old players jerseys or bats(like Babe Ruth!) and putting a little piece of them in a little plastic window on baseball cards? PS, Jack Hamilton looks gruesome there...

I think it's od enough when it's done with saints' icons. But it probably pays more than selling the uniform whole. And, as with saints' icons through history, it's an even easier way to rip somebody off.

I thought it was odd too, and I really didn't have any interest in them at all... until I pulled a Curt Schilling jersey card from a pack a few months ago. Having done that, I have to say it's kinda neat. I went out and bought a couple of bat cards (a Keith Hernandez and a Gary Carter) to add to the collection (I'm still searching for a Jim Rice from the same set). There's just something about the lure of cards... I'm a total junkie again, the way I was when I was a kid.
